1. The Road Map to Panama

YES Latin America is a join effort of the YES Networks in the Latin American region. Since 2007, Fundacion E is the regional host agency for YES in Latin America. Fundacion E was the organizer in 2004 of the second Youth Employment Summit (YES 2004) done in Veracruz, Mexico. That summit allowed the Latin American region to highlight and leverage the YES Campaign in this region of the world. During the past four years, the Latin American region has been able to work together in a cooperative and synergic way. To date, the stakeholders that each country network has been able to convene in the national level, has been also to convene in the regional level through:

1.) The 1st Latin American Forum on Youth Employment, held in Asuncion, Paraguay in year 2005 with a main focus on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). It was a regional preparation for the YES 2006 Global Summit.

2.) International Seminar on Youth Social Entrepreneurship, held in year 2007 in Dominican Republic in partnership with the United Nations Association for Dominican Republic.

3.) The 2nd Latin American Forum on Youth Employment, held in Panama City, in year 2008 with a focus on policies, partnerships and programs for entrepreneurship. It is a regional preparation for the YES 2008 Global Summit.

YES Latin America has been able to show that the whole is more than the sums of the parts, and in fact, that is why this is the only region within the YES Campaign that has been able to have a regional strategic planning process every two years since year 2004, that has included the global goals of YES; identifying the priorities for the region as well as has allowed to adjust it to each country context.

The success in Latin America, has been possible since all the YES Leaders have been empowered in the country, in the regional and in the global level. Then, there is the communal success thanks to a collective leadership and commitment with the YES Campaign goals.
